A Radical Shift: Why I’m Breaking Down the Paywall
To my students and community,
We are living through unique and difficult economic times. Everything from groceries to rent has gone up steeply. I hear from aspiring artists daily from every corner of the globe who are desperate to connect with the art of the Qalam but simply cannot justify the cost of tuition while families are struggling to make ends meet.
For over a decade, I priced my courses based on standard business metrics like how much time I invested or what the market value was.
But recently, I realized those were the wrong questions. The real question is: How much impact can be made?
I am in a unique position where my courses are digital resources. Unlike physical goods, sharing these files does not increase my costs. Because of this, God has put me in a unique position to give back. If a price tag prevents a student from connecting with their heritage or finding peace through the Qalam, then the art is not serving its purpose.
Therefore, effective immediately, I am moving my Traditional Self-Study Courses to a "Pay What You Want" model.
This is not a permanent change, but it is a necessary response to the times we are in. While we may return to standard pricing when the economic climate improves, for now, the priority is access rather than revenue.
Why are some courses still full price?
You will notice that my digital offerings and coaching programs remain at their retail price. The distinction is intentional:

Traditional Calligraphy is for the Soul: The handwritten courses (Thuluth, Diwani, Handwriting) are about personal development, patience, and spiritual connection. I want these to be accessible to absolutely everyone regardless of income.

Digital Art is for the Career: My digital courses (like Procreate Calligraphy) and professional programs (like Creative Calligrapher) are tools designed to help you generate income. They have an immediate financial payoff. Furthermore, if a student has access to the expensive hardware required for these courses, such as an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil, they are likely in a financial position to support the Academy at the standard rate.

Coaching Requires Personal Time: The "Pay What You Want" model applies strictly to self-study resources where you learn independently. My Coaching Programs involve direct 1-on-1 feedback, grading, and live weekly calls. Since this involves my personal time and mentorship, these programs must remain at standard pricing to sustain the level of support provided.
